ORIGINAL managing director

Mark Corcoran

Since Mark died unexpectedly on September 24, 2024, there has been a giant chasm. While managing Theatre in the Circle he relied heavily on his extensive experience in public relations, musical theatre production. He has held management/board positions in a variety of for-profit and 501 (c) 3 organizations.  He is the co-author of "Legacy," a musical about 19th century life on the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal. Mark was also the founder and Artistic Director of the Algonquin Cabaret Theatre in Western Maryland. He also introduced musical theatre to the Allegany College of Maryland with his production of Applause! - the first student/faculty musical on campus. Since his death a collection of his writings called Here's The Deal has been published. It is available through this website and on amazon.com.

Moving Forward

Bill plans to still be the driving force behind the revitalized Theatre in the Circle, which was forced to close during the COVID outbreak. It has remained dark since. During their period of operation if you asked Judson Manor residents Bill and Mark Corcoran how they feel about their nomination for a 2018 Cleveland Arts Prize, you would have heard words like “pleased,” “proud,” and even “dumbfounded.” The nomination recognized the Corcorans’ work in establishing the groundbreaking Theatre in the Circle, which consciously chose plays that resonate with older audiences.
